Ousmane Dembele and Aitana Bonmati took home the main awards at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony,
Dembele beat Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal to the Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Frenchman to do so since Karim Benzema to do so and sixth overall after Raymond Kopa, Michel Platini, Jean-Pierre Papin and Zinedine Zidane.
Dembele, a first-time winner of the prestigious award, played a massive role in Paris Saint-Germain finally getting their hands on the Champions League last season as well as dominating on home soil.
Bonmati won the Ballon d’Or Feminin for the third year in a row, beating Spain team-mate Mariona Caldentey to the award as Arsenal’s Alessia Russo completed the top three with fellow Lionesses Chloe Kelly, Leah Williamson, Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton in the top 10,
Elsewhere, it was a great night for Arsenal as summer signing Viktor Gyokeres shared the Gerd Muller Trophy with Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor after scoring 54 goals for Sporting CP last season. Gianluigi Donnarumma ended Emiliano Martinez’s dominance after his heroics for PSG, particularly in the Champions League last season.
At the start of the night, Yamal successfully defended his Kopa Trophy crown for the best under-21 player, while fellow Barcelona star Vicky Lopez took home the award for the women.
