According to Le Progres, a power cut at a Paris bar struck at the exact moment Arsenal missed the penalty that sealed the Champions League for Paris Saint-Germain. Supporters watching on the terrace were briefly left frustrated.
The outage hit during the shootout on Saturday night, as Gabriel faced Safonov for the final kick at the Puskas Arena.
With the screen dark, Gabriel’s effort flew into the stands, handing PSG a second successive Champions League title as the rest of Paris celebrated.
Any frustration quickly disappeared once news of the victory reached the bar.
PSG beat Arsenal 1-1, 4-3 on penalties in Budapest, and completed the double, a first for a French club.
