The summer transfer deadline day drama in the Premier League saw Marc Guehi fail to secure his desired move to Liverpool from Crystal Palace.

An agreement over a £35 million move had been reached between the clubs and the England international had even passed his medicals, only for Palace to pull the plug on the deal in the last minute.

Guehi, thus, ended up remaining at Selhurst Park, where his contract expires in 2026, at which point he is expected to leave as a free agent.

Barcelona among top teams tracking Guehi

With the centre-back set to be available for free next year, the Mirror reports that FC Barcelona have taken a keen interest in his situation and are tracking the defender.

However, the Blaugrana are not alone in showing an interest in Guehi, as four other European giants are also monitoring him.

Indeed, Barça’s arch-rivals Real Madrid are also interested, while Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Juventus have all joined the race.

At the same time, Liverpool will also be keen on snapping him up on a free transfer in 2026 after seeing their efforts fail this summer.

Clubs from outside England might have an edge, though, as Guehi can enter into negotiations with them over a pre-contract agreement starting from 1 January, when he is in the final six months of his contract.

With Andreas Christensen’s contract expiring and no plans to renew thus far, Barcelona could use defensive reinforcements, more so considering that they did not replace Inigo Martinez either this summer.

Guehi’s proven pedigree and availability for free, thus, make him an enticing target for the reigning La Liga champions. But competition for his signing will be intense.
