On Monday, 22 September, the 2025 Ballon d’Or will be awarded, with Lamine Yamal of Barcelona and PSG’s Ousmane Dembele being the two main favourites to receive the trophy at the gala to be held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
While the winner is still unknown, one of the major questions of the evening has already been resolved.
According to COPE (h/t Mundo Deportivo), former Barcelona and PSG superstar Ronaldinho is the one chosen to present the Ballon d’Or award this year.
Ronaldinho won the Ballon d’Or in 2005 and now, twenty years later, he will return to the stage as an undisputed icon of the sport.
His selection also fuels the debate about the possible winner, as both Dembele and Lamine Yamal play for clubs where the Brazilian once starred.

The decision to appoint Ronaldinho to deliver the Ballon d’Or came as a surprise at first, given that Hristo Stoichkov had claimed on more than one occasion that he would be the one entrusted with the honour.
The former Barcelona star first made the claim at the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Como and later repeated it at his personal museum in Sofia, coinciding with the Spanish national team’s visit to face Bulgaria.
Barcelona will have strong representation at the Ballon d’Or gala, with Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Pau Cubarso, along with coach Hansi Flick from the men’s first team.
From the women’s squad, Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas, Caroline Graham Hansen, Patri Guijarro, Ewa Pajor, Claudia Pina, Vicky Lopez and Cata Coll will also be present.
It remains to be seen whether they will be fortunate enough to return to Barcelona with an award.
