FC Barcelona and Real Madrid seem to have their fates quite closely linked as the two Spanish giants reach the final stages of the 2024-25 season.
Both the teams have already made their way to the final of the Copa del Rey, and are also competing for the La Liga title, with the Blaugranes enjoying a 4-point advantage over their rivals.
Things are somewhat different in the UEFA Champions League as the Catalans are the favorites to advance to the semi-finals because of their 4-goal advantage on aggregate, while the Merengues are facing a 3-goal deficit. Still, the two teams meeting in the final of the top European competition cannot be ruled out just yet.
Furthermore, the two sides were expected to continue their battles away from the pitch as well, as both the Spanish clubs were linked with 18-year-old Malaga winger, Antonito Cordero.
However, it seems that neither of them will be able to sign the promising youngster as Mundo Deportivo cites the journalist Fabrizio Romano to claim that he has already accepted an offer from the Premier League side Newcastle United to join them for the next season.
The report claims that the official statement about his signing will be made shortly by the Magpies. Antonito’s contract with the Spanish side is going to end this summer, and thus, he will join the English side for free.
Despite strong interest from Barcelona and several other teams, Newcastle seem to have won the race for his signature. The young winger had recently visited St. James Park and seen the club’s training facilities, and this trip seemingly made his mind to join the Premier League side.
This season, the youngster has scored 5 goals and provided 6 assists in 32 Liga Hypermotion matches. But from the looks of it, he will take the next step in his career this summer, and will be playing in one of the most difficult competitions in the world, i.e., the Premier League.
