Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are facing up to something of a crisis between the posts ahead of their opening fixture of the new campaign.
This comes with the goalkeeper options at the disposal of the Blaugrana coaching staff currently limited to just two.
Summer signing Joan García is of course expected to act as no.1 in Catalunya’s capital this season, with Wojciech Szczęsny as his backup.
Just over a week out from Barca’s La Liga opener against RCD Mallorca, however, neither player is registered for action in the Spanish top-flight.
Marc-André ter Stegen, fresh off being stripped of captaincy duties in Flick’s squad, is also unavailable owing to injury.
This leaves the duo of Iñaki Peña, and Diego Kochen.
With the former currently negotiating a contract termination with those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou, this means that the possibility of youngster Kochen being afforded his senior bow at Son Moix is beginning to gain real traction.
