Barcelona believe Newcastle will lower Gordon asking price | OneFootball

Barcelona believe they can sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for around £60m and have opened talks with the Magpies.

The Spanish champions have contacted Newcastle to discuss a deal for Gordon, who is keen to leave St James’ Park for a Champions League club.

Bayern Munich are also pursuing the 25-year-old, while there’s interest in Gordon from other Premier League clubs.

Newcastle have set an asking price of around £75m for the winger, but talkSPORT are reporting that there’s confidence from Catalonia that a deal can be done for closer to the £60m mark.

Barcelona sporting director, Deco, is leading the negotiations and feels the Spaniards are capable of affording the England international. Gordon is open to the move, while Barcelona appreciate his ability to play multiple positions across the forward line.

Gordon’s potential arrival could end Marcus Rashford’s hopes of a permanent move to the Camp Nou, following his loan spell last season.

Barcelona are yet to decide whether to sign the 28-year-old from Manchester United permanently, for a fee of around £26m.
