Barcelona have been going all out in the youth market and are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the best talents in world football arrive in Catalonia to train and potentially enter the first-team.

One of the young talents they have identified in recent weeks on that front is Ajay Tavares, a talented left-winger who is seen as the next big thing with his dribbling prowess and pace.

What makes him special, moreover, is the fact that he is a right-footed player who plays on the left-flank – a profile that enables him to drift centrally and cut into attacking positions and go for goal.

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano in a recent update, Barcelona are very close to completing the signing of Tavares despite several hurdles arriving in recent days.

Clubs from Germany are said to have attempted to hijack the deal, but the Catalans are ahead and confident of seeing the deal over the line. After all, the player too is hellbent on joining Barcelona and has his heart set on Catalonia.

The Blaugrana institution are confident of sealing the deal in the coming days in what comes as a massive boost. After all, talks are now in their final stages.

Tavares is initially expected to join Barcelona B and will play for the reserve side until the end of the season. A promotion, needless to say, will be based on the merit he accumulates during his time in the youth side.

Still just 16 years of age, the youngster currently plays for Norwich City’s U18 outfit and stands out for his all-round attacking capabilities.

Given how Barcelona have struggled on the left-flank for a long time now, there will be internal hope that Tavares could be the next big thing for the club in that position. Lamine Yamal, after all, has matters covered on the right wing.
