La Liga champions Barcelona have earmarked a member of the attacking ranks at Catalan rivals Girona as a potential summer signing.
This comes amid the understanding that the 28-year-old is in line for a free agent departure from the Estadi Montilivi over the coming weeks.
Girona were of course condemned to life back in Spain’s 2nd tier last month, after finishing in La Liga’s bottom three.
This triggered a clause in Tsygankov’s contract, enabling the Ukrainian international to find a new home without the need for a transfer fee.
And these circumstances, as alluded to above, have now alerted those in the boardroom at none other than Barcelona.
As per a report from Diario Sport, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements in the final third at the Spotify Camp Nou:
‘The name of Viktor Tsygankov appears, an option that is gaining ground as a low-cost reinforcement for Barça’s offensive plot.’
Tsygankov, who managed a solid seven goals and five assists in Girona colours this past season, is appreciated in Barcelona for his technical qualities, and impressive versatility.
