According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona remain interested in signing highly rated Club Brugge prospect Jesse Bisiwu, although negotiations have slowed after the Belgian club stood firm on their asking price.

The Catalan side have followed the young forward’s development for some time and still consider him one of the most promising attacking talents in Belgian football.

However, the financial demands of the deal have forced the club to reassess its next move.

A long-term target

Bisiwu has impressed Barcelona’s scouting department with his technical ability, pace and one-on-one attacking qualities.

The club believes the youngster possesses significant long-term potential, making him an attractive investment as Barcelona continue their strategy of recruiting elite young talent before their market value rises further.

Sporting director Deco and head of scouting Joao Amaral have been personally working on securing a deal for the promising teenager.

Over recent months, members of the sporting department have held discussions with both the player’s representatives and Club Brugge to better understand his contractual situation and explore the possibility of reaching an agreement.

Club Brugge holding firm

Barcelona’s intention was to move quickly and stay ahead of other clubs interested in the player.

The Blaugrana even submitted an initial formal offer, but Club Brugge rejected the proposal and maintained their original valuation throughout subsequent negotiations.

The Belgian club have shown little willingness to reduce their asking price, effectively bringing talks to a temporary standstill.

Barcelona still monitoring the situation

Despite the current impasse, Barcelona have not abandoned their pursuit. The club’s sporting department remains attentive to any change in Brugge’s position and is prepared to revisit negotiations if the financial conditions become more favourable.

Should a deal eventually materialise, the initial plan would be for Bisiwu to continue his development with Barça Atletic before being considered for promotion to the first team.

Sources close to the player’s camp suggest that Bisiwu would welcome the opportunity to join Barcelona, viewing a move to the Catalan club as an ideal step in his career.

For now, however, Barcelona are content to wait, hoping the transfer conditions evolve in their favour as the summer window progresses.
