FC Barcelona made two new offensive additions to their team in the last summer transfer window, i.e., Marcus Rashford and Roony Bardghji. However, there were several other players that attracted their attention, but whom the Catalans were unable to land.
One such player was the Cameroonian forward Etta Eyong, who ultimately joined Levante UD from Villarreal for €3 million, and who has been one of the more impressive players in this early phase of the new La Liga season.
Since the beginning of the season, Eyong has already featured in six La Liga matches. He opened his account with Villarreal, scoring once before sealing a deadline-day move to Levante.
With his new club, he has quickly made an impact, adding three goals and one assist, the latest of which came in the 1-4 defeat against Real Madrid, further underlining his growing reputation as one of the revelations of the campaign.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona’s Sporting Director, Deco, is among those impressed. In fact, Deco had already tried to bring Eyong to the Camp Nou during the summer, only for negotiations to collapse at the final moment. Levante seized the opportunity, but Barça have not lost sight of the forward and continue to monitor his development closely.
For Barcelona, Eyong’s profile ticks many boxes. Still only 21, he has plenty of room for growth, fits the club’s long-standing commitment to young talent, and would not command an exorbitant transfer fee at this stage.
His versatility in attack, sharp movement, ability to combine with teammates, and natural eye for goal make him a player who could adapt well to Hansi Flick’s system.

While Barcelona’s immediate priorities lie elsewhere, Eyong’s form is forcing the club to keep him on their shortlist.
For Levante, meanwhile, his breakout represents both a sporting boost and a financial opportunity. If his current trajectory continues, the Cameroonian could soon become one of the club’s most valuable assets in recent years.
Whether Barcelona eventually make a concrete move remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Etta Eyong is firmly on the Catalan club’s agenda for the coming months.
