Barcelona are closely monitoring Sergino Dest’s future, as the right-back’s expected move this summer could generate an unexpected financial boost for the club.
After an impressive season with PSV Eindhoven and strong performances for the United States at the World Cup, Dest has attracted interest from several European clubs.
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Bayer Leverkusen are emerging as one of the leading contenders for his signature.
The Bundesliga giants are looking for a replacement for Alejandro Grimaldo, who signed for Atletico Madrid, and have begun discussions over signing the 25-year-old former Barcelona full-back.
The proposed transfer is expected to be worth around €25 million.

Although Barcelona have no plans to bring Dest back to the club, they could still benefit from his departure.
When the defender was sold permanently to PSV, Barcelona negotiated a 20% sell-on clause in any future transfer.
If the deal is completed for around €25 million, the Catalan club would receive approximately €5 million, providing a welcome financial boost.
Dest joined Barcelona in the summer of 2020 from Ajax, but endured a difficult spell, before leaving the club on loan for AC Milan in 2022.
He signed for PSV on loan the subsequent year, but a serious injury disrupted his progress. Despite that, the Dutch giants signed him permanently in 2024, with Barça retaining a future sell-on clause.

Since then, Dest has enjoyed a remarkable revival in the Netherlands and has re-established himself as one of the Eredivisie’s standout full-backs.
Last season he made 38 appearances, scoring two goals and providing eight assists, while also becoming an important player for the United States during the World Cup.
At 25, he believes the time is right to test himself in one of Europe’s stronger leagues. Bayer Leverkusen, who will compete in next season’s Europa League, are viewed as an attractive destination where he could continue his development.
Barcelona will follow negotiations closely. While the club has no interest in re-signing Dest, the potential €5 million windfall would be welcome.
