Recently, Lionel Messi visited the Camp Nou, provoking a wave of enthusiastic comments about a possible return to Barcelona, at least for a farewell match, if not anything else.
For many, his surprise visit to Spotify Camp Nou was seen as a sign of love for the club that marked his career; for others, a veiled message to the board.
Now, as reported by MARCA, the speculation around the Argentine No. 10’s emotional visit has rapidly escalated into proposals for the grandest tribute possible.
The current atmosphere of homage at the club has led to the idea circulating strongly that one of the most emblematic stadiums in Spanish football could bear his name.
Information emerging in the Catalan press indicates that a current is pushing for the possibility of renaming the venue as “Spotify Camp Nou Leo Messi.”

The club’s current leadership views the gesture as a necessary attempt to strengthen the relationship with Messi after his painful departure in 2021, and to honour the most important player in its modern history.
Similar honours have been bestowed on global legends like Pelé, Diego Maradona, and Johan Cruyff, who have had stadiums or complexes named after them.
In this context, thinking of a “Camp Nou Leo Messi” does not seem far-fetched, but rather a natural evolution for a player who defined an era.
Since it is a members’ club, the final decision on the renaming would have to be put to a vote. However, Catalan media suggest it would be difficult to imagine a scenario where the proposal does not go ahead.
In addition to the renaming possibility, the club are already evaluating plans to put up a statue of the Argentine star, a tribute similar to the one made for club legends like Cruyff and Kubala.
