Barcelona could face serious competition in their pursuit of Julian Alvarez, as Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly entered the race for the highly rated forward, reports Fichajes.
It is known that Barcelona have been closely monitoring Alvarez for some time.
In fact, within the club’s sporting department, the Argentine striker is viewed as an ideal long-term solution for the attacking line, especially with the team gradually preparing for life after Robert Lewandowski.
The Catalan club believes Alvarez has the qualities needed to lead the attack, as his work rate, movement and ability to score in different situations fit well with the style of football Barcelona are trying to build under manager Hansi Flick.
However, completing such a transfer will not be easy.
Atletico Madrid have no intention of letting one of their most important players leave easily.
In the Spanish capital, Alvarez is considered a central figure in the sporting project, and they see him as a key player for the future.

Because of this, the Atletico board has made its position very clear that any club interested in signing the Argentine forward will need to present an offer worth around €100 million before negotiations can even begin.
While Barcelona have been strongly linked with the player for months, the situation has recently become more complicated due to the arrival of a powerful competitor.
Paris Saint-Germain have now entered the race for Alvarez, and their interest could change the dynamics of the transfer market.
Reports suggest that PSG’s pursuit of the striker comes after a direct request from their manager, Luis Enrique.
Furthermore, unlike Barcelona, PSG are also in a stronger financial position to meet Atletico Madrid’s demands.
The French champions would have fewer difficulties paying a fee close to €100 million, which immediately makes them a serious threat in the race for the player.
As a result, what initially looked like a potential opportunity for Barcelona could soon turn into a difficult transfer battle.
