A head-turning statistic has come to the fore online in the aftermath of La Liga giants Barcelona’s latest outing on the continent.
This comes after the Blaugrana were the beneficiaries of a controversial red card.
Hansi Flick’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Oympiacos to Catalunya’s capital for a Champions League clash.
When all was said and done, Barcelona emerged dominant victors, by six goals to one.
The game’s pivotal moment came early in the 2nd-half, when Olympiacos, fresh off bringing the scoreline back to 2-1, were reduced to 10 men.
As much came in highly controversial circumstances, as Marc Casadó went to ground in theatrical fashion following a swinging arm from Santiago Hezze, culminating in a 2nd booking for the latter.
And as alluded to above, these developments have since culminated in the emergence of a noteworthy statistic online.
As revealed by Spanish statistician MisterChip, Barcelona have now seen 33 opposing players sent off in fixtures against them in their Champions League history.
This is the most ever, followed by the Blaugrana’s arch rivals Real Madrid in 2nd (29).
