The name of attacker Araújo has of course positioned itself centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of recent days.

This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the 24-year-old has made his way firmly into the sights of the Barcelona brass.

On the lookout for reinforcements out wide with a view to next season, the Blaugrana, it is understood, consider Araújo a viable option.

The talented wide-man has notched two goals and an assist across home country Uruguay’s Copa América campaign to date, with Deco and co. understood to consider him as ‘Plan B’ to first-choice left wing signing Nico Williams.

Should Barca hope to strike a deal for his services, however, they will need to move fast.

As much comes with Araújo beginning to pique attentions across Europe.

As per Sport:

‘The Toluca star has provoked the interest of clubs from the major European leagues such as the Premier, Liga NOS, Serie A and La Liga.’

Araújo’s price-tag sits around the €20 million mark, with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest amongst the clubs most keen.
