Barcelona handed major boost before facing Newcastle | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Friday been afforded some altogether welcome personnel news.

This comes amid confirmation that manager Hansi Flick will be available to take his place on the bench for the club’s Champions League opener against Newcastle United.

Flick, along with assistant Marcus Sorg, was hit with a one-game ban by UEFA this summer.

As much came owing to the behaviour of the pair en route to Barcelona being sent packing from the Champions League by Inter Milan.

The Blaugrana, in turn, were facing up to a trip to St. James’ Park with neither their head coach or his assistant on the touchline.

As alluded to above, though, late this week, UEFA have altered their ruling.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Based on the allegations put forward by FC Barcelona, UEFA has partially upheld the appeal and, therefore, has suspended the sanction imposed on both Hansi Flick and Marcus Sorg. This means that both will be eligible to sit on the bench for Barcelona in the next match of the competition.’
