In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona have set their sights on Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie. It has been revealed that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to bring the Ecuadorian talent to the Nou Camp next year.
Hincapie is having a solid campaign at the North London club as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 23-year-old has played in 14 matches for Arsenal this season across all fronts.
The Ecuadorian talent has proven himself to be a solid presence at the back and deserves credit for making ten tackles, nine blocks, ten interceptions and 37 clearances in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from inside his half after completing 90.4% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).
Hincapie’s current contract at the North London club will run out at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for Barcelona to sign him on the cheap this January or on a free transfer next summer.

Hincapie is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is a good passer of the ball as well.
Standing at 1.84m, the Ecuadorian sensation is a strong presence in the air as well. He is primarily a centre-back but can also fill in as a left-back if asked to do so.
We can expect Hincapie to inject more bite and steel into Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s defence. He is more than capable of securing a regular starting spot at the Catalan club in the coming years.
At 23, Hincapie has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for Barcelona to pursue in 2026. With all things considered, Flick would be wise to go all out to get him on board this winter or at the end of this campaign. However, Barca has to give him some time to adjust to life in La Liga
