In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund talent Julian Ryerson. It has been mentioned that the Catalan club are keen on acquiring the services of the Norwegian full-back this year.

Ryerson’s Impressive Form In The Bundesliga

The 28-year-old is having an impressive campaign at the German club as he has put in a run of eye-catching displays for them on the right side of their defence. Ryerson has secured five assists in 21 appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season across various competitions.

The Norwegian talent has performed his defensive duties well and deserves credit for making 19 tackles, six blocks, seven interceptions and 17 clearances in the Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the right flank after completing 78% of his attempted passes in the German top flight (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Signal Iduna Park will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for Barcelona to get a deal done for him on the cheap this year.

Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Move In For Ryerson?

Ryerson is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and can chip in by creating the odd goal for his team.

The Norwegian sensation is primarily a right-back but can also function as a left-back if told to do so by his manager. However, there are some question marks over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Barcelona manage to bring him on board in 2026.

We can expect Ryerson to add more quality and depth to Barca boss Hansi Flick’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp.

At 28, Ryerson is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent choice for the Catalan giants to consider this winter or at the end of this season. With all things considered, Flick would be wise to move in for him as he would help Barca compete across all fronts over the next few years.
