According to a recent report from SPORT, Barcelona have narrowed down their main transfer targets to two standout names – Alessandro Bastoni and Julian Alvarez.
It is known that Barcelona believe they need to strengthen the centre-back and centre-forward positions.
In that regard, within the club’s offices, Bastoni’s name has gained overwhelming support. There is near total agreement among the decision-makers regarding his profile and suitability.
His ability to play out from the back, combined with his composure in possession and tactical intelligence, makes him an ideal fit for Flick’s system.
Barcelona view the Italian as a long-term defensive leader who could anchor the backline for the next decade. His experience at both club and international level adds further weight to that belief.
However, the deal will not be straightforward, as Bastoni remains under contract with Inter until 2028, meaning that the Serie A side will be under no pressure whatsoever to sell him.

Despite that, Barcelona are confident that a deal could be negotiated in the region of €60 million.
On the attacking front, Alvarez has emerged as the leading candidate to eventually succeed Robert Lewandowski.
Barcelona value his versatility, work rate, and ability to operate across multiple attacking roles, making him a natural fit for a fluid attacking system.
That said, there are still some internal reservations.
While Alvarez has shown his quality, his output this season has not reached the same heights as previous campaigns, especially in La Liga and this has introduced a level of caution within the sporting department.
Even so, Barcelona are still are building the foundation for the next era, with Bastoni and Alvarez seen as two pillars of that vision.
