Barcelona lead 2025 academy output across the big five leagues, with PSG and Rennes also in the top five.

According to L'Équipe, the CIES Football Observatory's weekly letter lists the clubs who trained the most players used in 2025. It counts footballers who spent at least three years at their academies between ages 15 and 21. Barcelona lead with 40 from La Masia, including 10 who played for the first team, a record.

Real Madrid are second on 35. PSG place third with 31 and keep that position when the scope extends to the past five and 10 years.

Rennes sit fourth in 2025 with 29, a sharp rise given they are only eighth over the past five years. Across the last 12 months, Rennes-trained players logged 22,599 minutes against 18,455 for those formed in Paris.

Ajax follow with 27, then Chelsea on 25 and Real Sociedad on 24. Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal each tally 22.

Elsewhere, Basque and Catalan clubs with a strong local identity, Real Sociedad, Athletic and Barcelona, used the most club-trained players in 2025. They were followed by Toulouse and Le Havre, who each fielded eight.
