Barcelona have formally withdrawn from the European Super League project fronted by Florentino Pérez, leaving only Real Madrid involved, two days before Joan Laporta is due to resign to stand for re-election on 15 March.
The club said in a statement that it had notified the EUROPEAN SUPER LEAGUE COMPANY and the clubs involved of its withdrawal.
The announcement came only hours before Mallorca’s visit to Camp Nou.
Barcelona joined the project on 27 October 2020, a move Josep Maria Bartomeu announced just before resigning as president.
Laporta intends to continue in the role if he secures a majority of members’ support.
