Former Barcelona star Lionel Messi secured for himself a fresh piece of football history in the early hours of Sunday.

This came by way of his performance in Inter Miami’s meeting with New York City FC.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, amongst others, after laying on one of Inter’s five goals against New York, Messi broke his tie with Ferenc Puskás as the leading assist-maker of all-time.

The Argentine has now laid on 405 goals for his teammates across his legendary career.
