Barcelona linked with surprise move for Napoli star | OneFootball

La Liga champions Barcelona have this week been credited with an interest in Napoli star Scott McTominay.

This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana are on the lookout for a different kind of profile to add to the club’s midfield ranks.

McTominay has for his part enjoyed something of a rebirth since swapping Manchester United for Napoli in the summer of 2024.

Previously considered a workhorse with the occasional eye for goal, the Scottish international has transformed his game in Italy, now standing as one of the standout midfielders in all of Serie A.

After racking up 12 goals and four assists in his debut season in the division, McTominay even managed to secure for himself the Serie A Player of the Year award.

And such ongoing excellence, it would appear, has not gone unnoticed in Spain…

As confirmed by transfermarkt on Wednesday, Barcelona are understood to have added the 28-year-old to their transfer wishlist for next summer.

McTominay, in the case of making the move to Catalunya’s capital, would introduce a new profile entirely to Hansi Flick’s engine room ranks.
