FC Barcelona loanee Hector Fort is entering the final stretch of his recovery after a shoulder injury, with the young defender now back at Elche as he works towards a return to action.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Fort returned to the city of Elche on Monday to complete the last phase of his rehabilitation after undergoing surgery on his shoulder at the end of December.
The 19-year-old had initially remained under Barcelona’s supervision for the first stage of his recovery, but will now continue the process with his loan club.
The injury dates back to December 21, when Fort was hurt during Elche’s match against Rayo Vallecano. In a cruel twist, the setback came after he had scored in the game, only to suffer a bad fall that resulted in an anterior dislocation of his left shoulder. He then underwent surgery in Barcelona eight days later.
Since then, Hector Fort has been working his way back carefully, with both Barcelona and Elche managing the process closely.
Elche coach Eder Sarabia specifically requested Fort’s return now in order to help reintegrate him into the squad dynamic before he receives full medical clearance. That clearance is expected to arrive sometime in April.
For Fort, this is an important step. After months on the sidelines, he now appears to be moving closer to competitive action again. And for Barcelona, it is another encouraging sign regarding one of their young defensive assets, who could still have an important role to play once he fully regains fitness.
