The attack is one of the areas where FC Barcelona are going to make some changes going into the 2026-27 season. Their hand would be forced to some extent into doing so because of the departure of Robert Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford, and they have already brought in a new player for this area, i.e., the English winger Anthony Gordon.
As things stand, they now have a clear target to replace the Polish forward in their squad, i.e., the Atletico Madrid attacker Julian Alvarez. Although getting him would not really be easy, he still remains the main target for the Blaugrana club.
Meanwhile, it appears that the Catalans have also been making inquiries about some other players as well, particularly those whose signing could turn out to be a market opportunity. In this regard, a report from SPORT claims that Barcelona was one of the clubs that asked AC Milan about their winger Rafael Leao, along with the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and some Saudi Arabian clubs.
However, this matter has not gone beyond this stage for now, even though the Italians are looking to sell the Portuguese forward. His position in the Rossoneri side has become quite untenable, especially with the arrival of Ruben Amorim on the bench, and they are now willing to sell him for €60 or even less.
This is a far cry from two years ago, when Barcelona made a move for him but Milan pointed to his €150 million release clause. The winger’s problems at the Italian club continue despite several managers coming in and going out, but the World Cup can provide him with an opportunity to recoup some of his value.
The player was already wiling to play for Barcelona two years ago, but now, especially with the arrival of Rafael Leao, he is no longer a priority, and this operation is not expected to advance beyond its current stage any time soon.
