FC Barcelona are back in action for the first time since their UEFA Champions League heartbreak as they take on Celta Vigo tomorrow at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Ahead of the La Liga clash against the Galicians, the Blaugrana stars took part in their final training session at the Ciutat Esportiva, with one notable absence apart from the injured Raphinha and Andreas Christensen.

Marc Bernal still not back

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, teenage midfielder Marc Bernal once again did not take part in the group training today and has been ruled out of the game against Celta Vigo.

The La Masia graduate continues to train separately from the group as he recovers from a sprain in his left ankle, sustained two weeks ago in a La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid.

Initially, his recovery time was suggested to be around ten days, but we are past that deadline, and he has yet to resume training with the rest of the squad.

However, the report adds that Bernal’s recovery is progressing positively, although he is not yet ready to return to full training, and as such, his absence from the match has been confirmed.

Bernal, who has recorded five goals and one assist this season, had been one of the team’s emerging young players during this phase of the campaign. However, the injury has halted his progress at a crucial point in the season.

Barcelona, for their part, are proceeding with caution and are not rushing his return in order to avoid any risk of relapse. After all, the youngster had spent more than a year out not long ago with an ACL rupture.

So, for now, Bernal is out of tomorrow’s La Liga encounter against Celta Vigo. Whether he returns in time for Saturday’s game against Getafe away from home remains to be seen.
