Barcelona have been keen on securing some sales since the start of the summer transfer window, with players like Ansu Fati and Inaki Pena leaving the club permanently.

One other player the club have been looking to sell since the start of the window is Marc Casado, with the 22-year-old losing prominence under Hansi Flick.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have set an asking price of €40 million for Marc Casado as the club remain open to selling the midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

Flick has informed the club that they should listen to offers for the 22-year-old, believing Barcelona have enough depth in defensive midfield even after Frenkie de Jong’s injury.

Barcelona want an offer to meet their valuation

With transfer fees continuing to rise across Europe and the Middle East this summer, the club believe €40 million is a fair price for Casado.

As a La Masia graduate, any transfer fee would count almost entirely as profit from a Financial Fair Play perspective, making a sale particularly attractive financially.

Casado is understood to be aware of the situation through his agent, Jorge Mendes, who has been discussing the player’s future with the club.

Saudi Arabia interest remains alive

Interest from Saudi Arabia has not disappeared.

Barcelona are said to be monitoring the market closely after seeing clubs in the Saudi Pro League continue to spend heavily, and Casado could end up moving there.

After enjoying a breakthrough campaign in the 2024-25 season and earning his first Spain call-up, his playing time dropped considerably, making his long-term role under Flick less certain.

Selling Casado would not be an easy decision.

The midfielder represents exactly the type of academy graduate Barcelona have traditionally built around. He understands the club’s style, works tirelessly and still has room to develop at just 22 years old.

At the same time, Barcelona always have tremendous talent coming through midfield, and keeping a 22-year-old without giving him game time is not fair on the player.

If an offer close to €40 million arrives for a player Flick does not see as an undisputed starter, the club will face a serious decision.

For now, Casado remains part of the squad and has travelled with the team to England. It remains to be seen whether he is wearing Blaugrana next season.
