Barcelona are planning to offer a new contract to Robert Lewandowski to extend his stay for at least another season.
The La Liga giants are open to the idea of renewing his terms, but only if he accepts reduced wages.
ESPN claims that manager Hansi Flick is pleased with the player’s attitude and performances, and the club are considering keeping him.
Lewandowski joined Barcelona for a fee worth around £42.5 million in 2022. He has bagged 113 goals and 23 assists in 174 appearances in all competitions.
The Polish international remains an important member of the first team squad.
He is one of the highest-paid players at Barcelona, and they want to reduce his salary to free up space for more signings this summer.
The Blaugrana want to add a striker who can compete with Ferran Torres.
They have identified Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez as an ideal target, but they have also been linked with Dusan Vlahovic, whose contract with Juventus expires in June.
Barcelona are in a good position to defend their La Liga crown, as they sit a point clear at the top of the table.
They suffered a shocking 2-1 loss at Real Sociedad last month, but bounced back to claim successive wins over Oviedo and Elche.
