Spanish champions Barcelona intend to deposit the release clause of Athletic Club star Nico Williams with La Liga this coming Friday.

That’s according to La Vanguardia, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.

Barcelona’s long-standing Nico chase has of course continued to dominate the headlines in Spain across the week to date.

This comes after sudden reports were forthcoming, pointing towards difficulties being encountered in talks between the parties.

Nico, out of the blue, is claimed to have demanded guarantees regarding his registration with La Liga for next season.

As much marked a major source of concern for all of a Barca persuasion, amid the club’s widely-publicised financial troubles.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word on the situation to have surfaced on Tuesday is anything to go by, then the Camp Nou board have evidently not been deterred.

As per a report from La Vanguardia:

‘Barcelona’s plan is to pay the player’s €62 million release clause this Friday.’
