Barcelona have had to push forward their return to the new Spotify Camp Nou owing to delays in the construction work.
The return was initially planned for November 2024, coinciding with the club’s 125th anniversary, but kept getting postponed time and again and the Catalans had to finish the 2024/25 season at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic.
There is optimism that their iconic home ground will be ready to reopen, at least partially, from September.
As such, Barça had requested La Liga to schedule their initial matches of the 2025/26 season away from home.
Now, according to Catalunya Radio, Barcelona and La Liga have reached an agreement for the champions to play their first four matches of the new season away from home.
This will make room for the construction works at the Spotify Camp Nou to be completed and allow the Blaugrana to return to the hallowed turf potentially from September.

As has already been reported, Barcelona intend to do a test run at their renovated stadium before the actual return and could host the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Como at Camp Nou, which will take place in August.
Based on how things go then, the actual return date to the stadium will likely be finalised.
But for now, La Liga will schedule Barcelona’s first four games of the new season on the road, providing enough room for the works at the Spotify Camp Nou to be completed.
The 2025/26 La Liga campaign is likely to kick off on the weekend of August 15-17.
And, if everything goes according to plan, Barcelona plan to return to Camp Nou sometime in mid-September, right after the international break.
