FC Barcelona have decided to offer defender Andreas Christensen a new contract for one more season, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The Blaugrana intend to agree an extension for the Danish defender for another year and talks will take place in the coming weeks to finalise the deal.
Christensen has been at Barcelona since 2022, when he arrived as a free agent after his contract at Chelsea expired.
The four-year deal that he signed at the time is set to run out in June. So far, there had been no talks over a renewal.
As such, it was largely expected that Barcelona were planning on letting the 29-year-old leave as a free agent in the summer.

But a recent injury – a partial ACL tear – has sidelined Christensen for at least four months, leaving him in a difficult situation.
Soon after the injury blow, it emerged that Barcelona president Joan Laporta was pushing to offer the defender a one-year extension so that he could focus on his recovery without having to worry about his future.
Now, it appears that Barcelona are ready to act on it and renew Christensen’s contract for one more season.
The 29-year-old defender is a player that Hansi Flick trusts and has full confidence in. But injuries have been a major issue for him throughout his stint at Barcelona.
Currently recovering from the aforementioned partial ACL tear, Christensen will join the rest of the Barcelona squad this weekend to support the team in the Spanish Super Cup final vs Real Madrid.
