FC Barcelona have made two significant additions to their attack this summer, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, although the latter’s signing is yet to be officially completed. However, their top transfer target remains Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez.

The Blaugranes have marked the Argentine as the best-suited candidate to replace Robert Lewandowski in their team. However, they have already seen one of their offers, of €100 million, not entertained by the Colchoneros, and the public stance of the two clubs shows that this move is going to be anything but easy.

One way the Catalans can tempt the Mattress Makers to part ways with their prized star is by including players in the deal, and Barcelona have not ruled out including some players, especially those who are not in the plans of Hansi Flick for the next season.

On the other hand, according to Mundo Deportivo, the one Blaugrana player that Diego Simeone wants in his team is the young midfielder Marc Bernal.

However, Hansi Flick also highly regards the midfielder, and the Catalans are not open to allowing him to become a part of this deal, or to leave for any other side. His current contract goes till 2029 and has a release clause of €500 million, so Barcelona are quite protected on this front.

The Spaniard overcame the serious injury that he suffered at the start of the 2024-25 season only last year, and after gradually making his way back on the pitch, Flick is now counting on him to have a greater role next season.

Meanwhile, Marc Bernal himself is fully committed to Barcelona, and is not thinking of a move away from the club, despite the reported recent meeting between his agent, Raul Verdu, and the Atletico Madrid sporting director, Mateu Alemany. At 19 years of age, he has his entire career in front of him, and hopefully, he would spend all of it defending the Blaugrana colors.
