Barcelona’s desire to make the Marcus Rashford deal permanent in the coming summer is no longer a secret.
Following a productive loan spell in Catalonia, the club are keen on permanently acquiring the services of the English forward.
However, Barcelona have faced a few hurdles, particularly with regard to the valuation of Rashford’s buyout clause, which is €30 million.
No thanks to Barça’s ongoing economic situation, the club are not too keen on paying the €30 million upfront and are in constant talks with Man United to perhaps lower the valuation.
A recent report from ESPN has offered a fresh update on Barcelona and their pursuit of Rashford this summer.
It appears the Catalans are still keen on signing the English international, but Man United have been persistent about their €30 million price tag.

Barça are looking to retain Rashford, but if they fail to reach an agreement with Man United, the club are open to signing an alternative.
In the place of Rashford, the club are looking to sign a versatile winger, who can serve as a backup for Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
Barcelona have looked quite toothless in attack this season without the services of either of those star attackers. Therefore, the club must look for a quality alternative.
Rashford has given Barcelona that quality as well as productivity this season, but there have been question marks over his consistency.
That is perhaps why the club are more open to finding an alternative for the Englishman, especially if they can sign someone for cheaper.
Hansi Flick can always rely upon reinforcements from La Masia, with former graduates Ez Abde and Jan Virgili emerging as potential alternatives.
