Barcelona set for fresh talks with Manchester United over Marcus Rashford deal | OneFootball

With the season now over, FC Barcelona are fully shifting their focus to the upcoming summer transfer window.

Work is being done on reinforcing the centre-forward slot following Robert Lewandowski’s departure. Meanwhile, the Catalans also continue to look for ways to keep their two on-loan stars, Joao Cancelo and Marcus Rashford, at the club.

Fresh talks with Manchester United

In that regard, journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Barcelona are set to hold fresh talks with Manchester United this week over a deal for Rashford.

The England international joined the Blaugrana on a season-long loan deal last summer which contained a €30 million permanent purchase option.

Hansi Flick and Barça are very happy with Rashford’s performance, and want to keep him at the club, but remain reluctant to pay the full €30 million buy clause.

As such, Deco has been trying to renegotiate the terms of the deal, with the Barcelona director pushing for another loan deal with an obligation to buy based on a specific, low number of appearances next season.

Manchester United, so far, have been clear that they are unwilling to negotiate. At the same time, however, they do not intend to take Rashford back and are eager to shed his massive wages.

As far as Rashford is concerned, he has made it clear on multiple occasions in the media that he sees himself at Barcelona next season.

In fact, there is already a contract agreement in place between the Englishman and the La Liga champions should they go ahead and finalise his signing from Manchester United.

It all now boils down to the two clubs finalising an agreement, with fresh negotiations expected to take place this week.
