The forward Ferran Torres is one of the players whose future at FC Barcelona has generated a lot of doubts in the last few days. The Spaniard has now only one year left on his contract, and as things stand, negotiations for his renewal have not begun.
Meanwhile, the French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain have been strongly linked with him in the last few weeks. These links emerged during the World Cup, and have only strengthened following the World Cup final, in which Torres scored the only goal to give his Spanish national team their second World Cup title.
Some recent reports on this matter indicated that the player himself feels undervalued at Barcelona, mainly because renewal negotiations have not started, despite the good form he showed during the last season and the excellent World Cup he has just had. Furthermore, these reports suggested he has already told his close circle that he wants to join the Ligue 1 side this summer.
However, Mundo Deportivo reports that the Blaugranes’ plans for the forward remain the same, i.e., they will begin renewal negotiations with him after the end of the summer transfer window, and they have no plans to sell him to any club.
This is particularly the case as Robert Lewandowski also left at the end of the last season, and the Catalans have not yet got another striker to replace him, and thus, they cannot afford to lose another center-forward.
Things can change if the Spaniard himself asks the club for a move; they can consider his departure, but are yet to decide on their asking price for the forward. On the other hand, the player’s entourage has not made any comments about his plans for the future. If Ferran Torres is actually looking to leave, his agent, Hector Paris, will talk with the Barcelona sporting director Deco in the coming few days.
