Barcelona star Íñigo Martínez has established himself as the standout defender in La Liga when it comes to progressive passes this season.

This is evidenced by a round of statistics to have come to the fore on Friday.

Stopper Íñigo is for his part of course in the midst of nothing short of a superb start to the new campaign.

En route to establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet of new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, the 33-year-old has emerged as something of a leader at the back in Catalunya’s capital.

Íñigo’s excellence, though, has not been restricted solely to the defensive side of the ball.

In addition, the former Athletic Club man has shone in possession, with his ability to play out from the back having proven a key factor in Barca’s surge to the top of the La Liga table.
