Barcelona have already lost Robert Lewandowski from last season’s squad, and there is a growing chance that fellow striker Ferran Torres also departs. The Catalans’ number 11, who scored the winning goal in last weekend’s 2026 World Cup final, is reportedly willing to leave this summer, given that his future has been left in limbo.
Torres has less than a year remaining on his current contract at the Spotify Camp Nou, but despite this, Barcelona are not in a rush to present a renewal offer. Furthermore, they cannot guarantee the salary increase that the Spain international wants, which has led to him considering his options for the remainder of the ongoing transfer window.
But that is not the main reason that Torres is open to leaving this summer. According to Sport, he believes that Barcelona undervalue him from a sporting perspective, given that he has never been considered a first-choice option in the first team despite having generally performed very well over the last 2-3 seasons.
Although Real Madrid have shown shock interest in Torres’ services, it is Paris Saint-Germain that are currently firm favourites to sign him this summer. He sees the option of joining the back-to-back European champions well, especially as he would get the money and playing time he wants while also reuniting with Luis Enrique, whom he worked under at international level.
Torres’ situation will be one to watch over the coming weeks. Barcelona want him to stay, but they will only accept him signing a new contract on their terms – and if that is not possible, it would become very likely that an exit is sought by all parties before the summer transfer window closes at the end of August. Until then, the likes of PSG will continue to keep tabs on the situation.
