Barcelona star in late push for a starting berth vs Real Madrid | OneFootball

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga leaders Barcelona is pushing to make himself available to feature from the off in this weekend’s showdown with Real Madrid.

The player in question? Alejandro Balde.

Defender Balde has of course seen his name take its place centre stage in the chatter surrounding Barcelona over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the 21-year-old linked back up with the rest of Hansi Flick’s squad in group training.

Balde had been sidelined for the best part of a month, owing to a muscular injury suffered during a La Liga meeting with Leganés in April.

The Spanish international, though, was on Thursday given the medical green light, spotted back in the thick of things at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper as a result.

And this proved the case once more on Friday.

Balde was a leading protagonist in the Blaugrana’s morning training session, ramping up his fitness levels for the season’s final weeks.

After it was previously suggested that he would take his place on the bench for Sunday’s upcoming Clásico, Balde, in turn, appears to be pushing for a potential start at left-back.
