Barcelona star labelled a ‘serious doubt’ to face Valencia after fresh medical tests | OneFootball

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is considered a major doubt to play his part in the club’s post-international break return to action.

That’s according to journalist Alex Pintanel, who points towards Frenkie de Jong as the player in question.

Midfielder De Jong of course set alarm bells sounding across Catalunya’s capital late last week.

This came upon word coming to the fore that the former Ajax man had been released from international duty early, owing to a fitness problem picked up during a World Cup qualifier against Poland.

De Jong, in turn, made his way back to Barcelona over the weekend.

And on Monday, the 28-year-old was put through a fresh round of medical scans and checks.

Unfortunately for Hansi Flick and co, however, the understanding is that the tests in question did not produce the desired results.

As per a report from the aforementioned Alex Pintanel:

‘After this morning’s medical tests, Frenkie de Jong is a serious doubt for the match against Valencia.’
