A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona on Monday netted his first-ever goal in La Liga play.

The player in question? Pau Cubarsí.

Barcelona are of course currently locked in action, in a league meeting with Catalan rivals Girona.

The matchup marks a crucial one for the Blaugrana, who found themselves trailing table-topping arch rivals Real Madrid ahead of kick-off.

And early in the 2nd-half, the aforementioned Pau Cubarsí put Hansi Flick’s troops on track for precisely as much.

Connecting with Jules Koundé’s whipped delivery into the penalty area, the 18-year-old did brilliantly to direct a pinpoint header into the top corner.

The evening’s opening goal aside, this also marked a significant goal for Cubarsí on a personal level, in representing his very first in La Liga.

Girona have since gone on to level things up at the Estadi Montilivi, through attacker Thomas Lemar.
