Paris Saint-Germain will be looking for a center-back this summer as the Leny Yoro pursuit seems to have reached a dead end. One of the files that have been in the rumor mill in recent months is FC Barcelona defender Jules Koundé.

PSG will reportedly look to revamp their center-back position this summer. This process began this past January with the arrival of Lucas Beraldo. Nonetheless, once the transfer window opens, more moves should be expected in the coming weeks.

Koundé is having an excellent UEFA Euro 2024 for France, and there are likely going to be new suitors that are knocking on Barcelona’s doorstep to see if they’re willing to Frenchman.

Journalist Robin Bairner spoke with PSG Talk and noted that the capital club shouldn’t pursue the 25-year-old because he wouldn’t fit the system that manager Luis Enrique wants to play and would require from the right-back position.

“My issue with Koundé would be if he played right-back, I don’t think he gives you enough going forward,” Bairner said. “Admittedly, he’s been excellent for France at the Euros, but for a club like PSG, if you’re playing 4 -3 -3, I would like to see a more attacking presence from right-back. And that’s why I wouldn’t necessarily say that Koundé would be ideal for PSG at the moment.”

Koundé has appeared in 44 matches across all competitions for Barcelona this season while scoring two goals and recording four assists. Moreover, Transfermarkt puts the 25-year-old’s transfer value at €50 million.
