Barcelona star tipped for international recall after 3-year absence | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week been tipped for an imminent recall to the international stage.

The player in question? Eric García.

Stopper Eric is for his part of course fresh off featuring from the off in Barcelona’s season opener this past weekend.

Favoured to the first-choice Jules Koundé, the former Girona man was handed a starting berth at right-back for the Blaugrana’s trip to Mallorca.

And en route to a 3-0 triumph at Son Moix, Eric, again, enjoyed a fine display.

This followed on from a string of impressive performances at full-back over the closing weeks of the 2024/25 campaign.

And such endeavours, it would appear, have not gone at all overlooked on the part of Luis de la Fuente and the Spanish national team staff.

This comes amid confirmation on the part of Diario Sport that Eric is a real candidate to be called up for Spain’s World Cup qualifying double-header against Bulgaria and Turkey next month.

Any such call would come as the versatile defender’s first since all the way back in 2022.
