FC Barcelona saw their UEFA Champions League journey come to an end as they were defeated by Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals of the competition, with a 3-2 scoreline on aggregate.
Meanwhile, they almost have the league title wrapped up, as they enjoy a 9-point lead over Real Madrid with only 7 matches remaining.
As a result, it was expected that a key planning meeting would soon take place involving Hansi Flick, sporting director Deco, president Joan Laporta, and the rest of the sporting committee to finalise the strategy for the upcoming summer transfer window, including both arrivals and departures.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick has decided to postpone any such transfer summit until Barcelona are mathematically crowned La Liga champions.
Despite the significant advantage over Real Madrid, the German coach wants to maintain full focus within the dressing room during this decisive stage of the season and avoid any transfer speculation that could disrupt the squad’s concentration.
While Flick and Deco have already outlined much of the planning for next season, the coach prefers to delay formal discussions on exits and signings until the title is secured.
Following their Champions League elimination, Flick granted the squad two days off to recover and switch off mentally. The timing also coincides with the absence of league action this weekend due to the Copa del Rey final between Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad.
The situation in the title race could also influence the timing of the final celebration and planning phase. If both Barcelona and Real Madrid continue winning their remaining matches, the league title may not be decided before the El Clasico on May 10.
As things stand, unless Real Madrid drop points earlier, the postponed transfer summit between Flick and the club hierarchy is now expected to take place only after Barcelona are mathematically confirmed as La Liga champions.
