Atlético Madrid star Julián Alvarez was left less than impressed by the latest comments laid out by the club regarding his future this week.

This comes after the Rojiblancos again moved to downplay any potential chance of the Argentine departing this summer.

Drawn on Alvarez’s future in Spain’s capital during an exchange with the media on Friday, Atlético Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil was nothing short of adamant that the 26-year-old will not be allowed to move on, amid the interest of La Liga rivals Barcelona:

“My position is clear, the club’s position is clear. We’ve made it known to the player, his representatives, and the president of Barcelona.

“I have absolutely no doubt that Atlético is the right place in the world for Julián, and that Julián is the perfect centre-forward for Atlético Madrid. We want to keep him.

“I recently heard the president say that the offer he made to Atlético Madrid wasn’t unlimited. My only response is that our answer is unlimited. We do not want to transfer him.

“We didn’t accept an offer of €100 million, and we won’t accept one of €150 million or even €200 million.”

This statement, however, has not gone down at all well with Alvarez and his camp.

Currently focused on matters on the international front ahead of Sunday’s World Cup final showdown between Argentina and Spain, the former Manchester City man feels as though he has been led astray by the Atléti brass.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘The attacker is very upset with Atletico Madrid as he considers that the club is not respecting the commitment made to him just a few months ago.’

Ready to ‘explode’ courtesy of a public message of his own, Alvarez is of the opinion that his employers have broken their recent promise that he would be allowed to move on in the case of a top club tabling an offer in the region of €100 million for his signature.

One of the stories of the summer in Spain could be set to turn very ugly over the weeks ahead…
