Levante forward Etta Eyong has become one of the most talked-about young attackers in Spanish football this season.
His performances have not only caught the eye of top European clubs but also sparked strong speculation linking him with a potential move to Barcelona.
With Robert Lewandowski’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, Barcelona are already assessing long-term options in attack.
While Eyong lacks the top-flight experience of seasoned strikers, his current form has made him a standout name in La Liga.
The 22-year-old’s energy, movement, and finishing ability have convinced many that he could be a worthwhile investment for the Catalan giants.
Speaking to Ben Jacobs for GiveMeSport, Eyong addressed the growing interest surrounding his future and reflected on the players who have inspired him most throughout his journey.
When asked about his footballing role models, the young forward didn’t hesitate to highlight two legendary figures.
Eyong named his compatriot Samuel Eto’o as “the best” and also spoke with admiration about Robert Lewandowski, praising the Polish striker’s brilliance and consistency.
“Lewandowski has managed to score so many goals throughout his career.
“It’s really impressive what he’s doing at Barcelona right now. He is a great finisher and has intelligent movement.
“He always seems to know the right time to ask for the ball. I can learn a lot from him.

“When we play Barcelona next [in February at the Camp Nou], I hope to get Lewandowski’s shirt to add to my collection.”
Despite the growing noise about his next move, Eyong insisted he is trying to stay grounded and focus solely on his football.
“I try not to look at my phone too much because my friends call me with all the gossip. I tell them, ‘I don’t know anything – I have just been on my PlayStation!’
“I would much rather play Call of Duty, watch anime or read history books than occupy my head with rumours.
“If a big move is meant to be, it will only happen if I work hard,” he noted.
Reports suggest that Eyong favours a move to Barcelona, but he has not closed the door on other opportunities.
The Levante forward admitted his admiration for both Spanish and English football.
“I can’t pick between LaLiga and the Premier League because I love both leagues,” said Eyong.
For now, the talented youngster remains focused on continuing his rise with Levante.
However, if his form continues, a summer move to Camp Nou could be more than just speculation, as it could be the next big step in his career.
