Barcelona are still trying to sign Julian Alvarez, although their pursuit has been very fruitless up until now. Atletico Madrid have been clear that a deal for their prized asset will not be considered, although that may only be the case when it comes to their La Liga rivals.
Atleti have already knocked back a €150m offer from Real Madrid, and they will likely do the same again in the event that Barcelona offer a similar amount. They are determined to stop him leaving for the Bernabeu or Spotify Camp Nou, but there may not be that same intensity if other clubs from outside Spain come calling.
Outside of Barcelona and Real Madrid, Alvarez has attracted interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain over the last few months, and in the case of the Premier League champions, they have reportedly made their move. Speaking on El Chiringuito (via Sport), journalist Jota Jordi has claimed that Atleti have agreed to sell the Argentina international to the London club.
“Atletico Madrid has a closed agreement for the sale of Julián Alvarez with Arsenal. It is a closed agreement for the sale of the Argentine attacker. Let’s see if they can deny it.”

According to Jordi, the agreement between Arsenal and Atleti is for €50m, but also included in Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish striker, who joined Mikel Arteta’s side last summer in a deal worth €70m, is said to be part of the transfer, although this has yet to be confirmed by any other sources linked to either club.
It would be a surprise if that deal was actually. Atleti have been very clear that they will not entertain player-plus-cash offers for Alvarez, which came amid reports that Barcelona wanted to include the likes of Marc Casado or Ferran Torres in their own proposal. As such, the race for his signature is still open.
