Sevilla look set to beat out competition from a number of La Liga rivals in the race to land the in-demand Álex Costa this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing ABC, who have on Monday provided an insight into the situation.
Costa, for his part, is a 22-year-old attacker, who is currently plying his trade on the books of Ponferradina.
He is fresh off a productive campaign in 2024/25, which, despite some injury troubles, saw Costa rack up ten goals and three assists in league play.
As much proved enough to pique the attentions of a whole host of La Liga clubs, with the likes of Barcelona, Villarreal and Real Betis all understood to have been keeping a close eye on the frontman.
As alluded to above, though, early this week, it is another of the Spanish top-flight’s clubs who have stolen a march on the competition for Costa’s services.
As per MD:
‘Sevilla are close to completing the signing of Álex Costa. Negotiations between the clubs are well advanced, according to ABC, and the official announcement could be made in the next few hours or days.’
The expectation is that Costa would initially link up with Sevilla’s reserve outfit, with a view to making the step up to first-team duties at some point this coming season.
