Eric Garcia’s rapid rise to prominence has been one of the highlights for Barcelona this year.
The summer exit of Inigo Martinez has further helped Garcia become a key player in the team, with the former Manchester City starlet notably starting every league game for Barça this season.
The Spaniard has impressed onlookers with his performances, showcasing maturity and leadership in defence, be it at right-back or centre-back.
In light of his brilliant performances this season, Barcelona intend to renew the contract of Eric Garcia, which expires at the end of the season.
According to AS, Barça plan to renew the contract of Garcia once they finalise the renewal of Frenkie de Jong.
The Dutchman’s renewal is currently the topmost priority for the Catalans, as the midfielder has been equally impressive and has played a key role in revving up Hansi Flick’s Barcelona side.

De Jong’s current contract also expires at the end of the season. But the new deal should secure his long-term future at the club, although it will be interesting to see whether the midfielder settles for a pay cut.
Nevertheless, the renewal of de Jong will follow with the renewal of Garcia, who is among the lowest-paid players in the team.
Barcelona, therefore, are expected to hand him a handsome increment as he continues to establish himself as an undisputed starter for the club and has fully won over Hansi Flick.
Once the Catalans finalise the renewal of Garcia and de Jong, one would expect them to move on to Ferran Torres, whose deal in Catalonia expires in 2027.
Having impressed with his goalscoring ability this season, Ferran certainly warrants an extension and possibly even a salary hike, although that would depend on Barcelona’s finances.
