FC Barcelona face off against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday afternoon in La Liga, aiming to stretch their lead at the top of the table.

Confidence will be high in the camp following the 7-2 hammering of Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League and the Blaugrana will be hoping to build on that momentum.

This will be the team’s last match before the first international break of 2026, on the other side of which, the Catalans resume their campaign with a tough match-up against Atletico Madrid.

Marc Bernal at suspension risk

And, young midfielder Marc Bernal faces a suspension risk ahead of Barcelona’s upcoming league match against Atletico Madrid.

At just 18 years of age, Bernal has become a key player in Barcelona’s midfield in recent weeks.

Taking advantage of the injury absence of Frenkie de Jong and having regained confidence and rhythm after a year out due to a serious knee injury, the La Masia midfielder has established himself as a vital figure in the side, partnering Pedri in the double pivot.

However, this Sunday, he will face Rayo Vallecano at the Spotify Camp Nou under the threat of suspension. Indeed, Bernal is already on four yellow cards in La Liga this season, and one more caution tomorrow could cost him dearly.

If he receives a yellow card during the game against Rayo, Bernal will miss the Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona fixture on Matchday 30 of La Liga, scheduled for Saturday, 4 April, following the international break.

Bernal has already avoided suspension in the previous two league matches against Athletic Club and Sevilla, after receiving his fourth yellow card against Villarreal.

So far this season, Bernal has made 26 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona. Despite being a pivot midfielder, he has shown his goalscoring instincts and has already found the back of the net five times.
